List an item
Turning one item from photos into something on sale on Mercari — upload the photos in the console, the AI writes the description, you confirm.
Turning one item from photos into something on sale. You photograph and confirm; the system writes the Japanese description. Neither the upload nor the generated draft is public — in a draft-confirm store (the default) the item only appears on Mercari after you confirm the listing yourself; for a full-auto store see “Two store types” below.

What to do next with in-progress items
In progress (all sources) shows web, email, auto-relist and Legacy channel items together. “Legacy channel” is only a source label on older items, not a way in. Each row states the next step: while it is analysing or publishing, wait and do not submit again; when a web draft fails you can go to the actual draft-fixing controls below; if an item from an older source cannot be fixed, create a fresh one on this page. Sources with no real entry point only show an explanation — no buttons that do not work. A row marked Paused means the publish outcome is unknown: check your listings on Mercari, then choose “It’s listed” or “It’s not listed” on the draft card; for items from other sources, contact support and the operator checks it in the back office. Uploading the same photo set again replaces an older draft that was not listed yet (the old one shows “Superseded”).
Pressing ❌ Discard throws this card away for good and you have to send the photos again. To take an item down after it is listed, use the relevant chapter; orders already made are not cancelled by unlisting.
Two store types
There are two store types, set per store:
- Draft-confirm (the default): the AI only edits and saves drafts, and you press 出品 for the first listing. Relisting after a sale runs only when you set the stock / relist yourself (in the draft’s note, or in the console’s product settings).
- Full-auto: only in a store that has authorized publishing, the AI lists directly.
A store that is unset or unknown is treated as draft-confirm — except that rows you set to “auto-list” in a connected spreadsheet are listed directly. When a listing’s outcome cannot be confirmed, the system does not list it again automatically (so nothing is listed twice).
Execution and first-listing permission: the store’s Mac can use Codex or Claude signed in with an existing subscription. Automatic listing depends on the store’s saved, verified permissions; a draft note cannot turn a draft-confirm store into a full-auto store. In draft-confirm stores, including stores using their own AI, you press 出品 for the first listing. Internally operated full-auto stores use their authorized automatic-listing flow. If the store type or authorization cannot be confirmed, keep the draft and contact operations.
The pricing rule
Apart from the exception below, AI draft prices, draft edits, live price edits, price cuts, automatic price drops and relists — every price is checked by one rule:
- Ceiling: Amazon’s current price for the same item (new). Outlet or used: the top of the Mercari price band for that condition.
- Market: the same item’s sold Mercari prices, weighted by recency (a sale an hour ago counts far more than one a month ago); the weighted median.
- Dump sales are excluded even when recent: below 50% of the other sales’ median, or ¥300 or less left after the 10% fee and shipping.
- Unsold listings are reference only, never the market.
- No Amazon listing: the lowest new price on the web / Kakaku.com. No Mercari sale of the same item: 75% of the new price.
- When the same item sells unit after unit, a unit that sold within 60 minutes of listing counts as priced too low, not as the market — the next unit is never cheaper.
Exception: in a store whose drafts are tidied by Claude on the store’s own computer, the AI draft price uses that store’s pricing template (on trial; its parameters are still under human review): a collectible whose note says limited, rare and so on is priced from the last 30 days of same-item sales with no retail ceiling; anything else is capped at the same item’s current price on the web and priced at the upper quartile (P75) of the last 30 days of same-item Mercari sales; a new item never goes below 60% of its list price; when no evidence at all is found, the price is left empty rather than guessed.
When the rule refuses a price, the console asks for a reason: it is sent only with a reason (at least 5 characters), recorded with your signed-in account.
Before you price it, look at the estimated net
Our items are always sold with the seller paying shipping (送料込み). So the sticker price is not what you receive: Mercari takes its fee first, and shipping also comes out of your proceeds.
When you press ✏️ Edit content on the preview card to change the price, an estimated net block sits right under the price field. Choose the delivery method you intend to use (these are Mercari’s published rates, with the size and weight limits written on each option) and you immediately see roughly what is left.
For example: sold at ¥9,800, Mercari fee 10%, using 宅急便コンパクト (¥450 + ¥70 for the box) —
¥9,800 − fee ¥980 − shipping ¥520 = about ¥8,300
It subtracts the platform fee and the shipping (including boxes that have a published price). It does not subtract what the item cost you — the system does not know that number. Subtract it yourself. Next to the figure it states whether the fee rate came from your settlement settings or from the system default.
When no delivery method is selected it says “shipping not included” outright, rather than pretending shipping is zero. This choice is for the estimate only: it is not sent to Mercari and does not affect the listing. The real delivery method is registered after the item sells, when you ship it (see the shipping chapter).
Scheduled listing (publish at a chosen time)
If you do not want to publish right away, press 📅 Schedule listing on the preview card and pick a time in the future (at least 15 minutes out; the form states the time zone your device is using). The system publishes it for you at that moment — no need to sit and wait. To catch the evening peak (say after 19:00, when buyers are most active), pick a time around then.
Once scheduled, the card switches to a Scheduled state showing the planned time, which also makes it easy to find later. You can cancel the schedule at any time before it publishes, switching back to manual or choosing another time.
📅 Mercari scheduled
Scheduled for 6/8(月) 22:00 publishes automatically at that time
Pressing ✅ Publish now publishes immediately; it does not wait for some preferred window. To land on the peak, use 📅 Schedule listing and set the time.
Automatic price drops (ease the price down after listing)
If an item does not move after listing, you can have it drop a little at fixed intervals and stop at a floor you set. It is fully automatic, and every drop notifies you.
Open the item’s detail under My products and set the automatic drop: how much per drop, how often (platform anti-abuse rules mean the interval cannot be shorter than 24 hours) and the floor (it stops there). The drop amount comes with a recommended default you can adjust.
Once set, the Price-dropping tab under My products lists each item’s progress and the most recent run, so you can see at a glance how it will come down:
📉 Auto price-drop is set · Mercari only
Current ¥1,200 · −¥100 each time · every 24h · floor ¥800
━━ Schedule ━━
6/9 → ¥1,100 6/10 → ¥1,000 6/11 → ¥900 6/12 → ¥800
Stops at the floor. You can stop it any time from the “Price-dropping” tab.
Stop the automatic drop in the item’s detail and the price freezes where it is. To change “how much per drop” or “the floor”, just overwrite the setting — you do not have to stop it first.
Before each drop the system reads the real price back from the platform and compares. If it does not match, it stops and tells you rather than changing anything blindly. If a “price drop failed to send” warning card appears on the home page, clicking it takes you straight to it. The full explanation of price changes, title changes and unlisting is in the Editing and unlisting a live item chapter.
