Chapter 10

Limits

The ceilings you will almost never hit: the listing queue holds up to 50 unfinished jobs per shop, images are capped at 10 MB each, and the number of photos per upload follows your shop's setting.

Listing one item at a time, you will almost never run into the ceilings below. They are written down so nothing surprises you.

The listing queue

  • There is a concurrency limit on listings waiting in the queue. Push in more unfinished jobs than that and the excess is refused with a message saying so; the limit is 50 per shop, a fixed system value that the console cannot change. In practice listings clear the queue quickly, so you will not meet it.
  • The system also keeps a daily reference count internally, but it does not currently block your listings. It exists for the console’s records.

Automatic relisting

  • When an item sells and automatic relisting is on, the system handles it for you; there is no daily number to set. How many times each item is relisted follows its Resale count in the item’s detail.
  • The console has no adjustable daily allowance. One invisible shop-wide safety valve remains (it trips only at 200 or more relists in one shop on one day) to stop a software fault. If an item was not relisted automatically, open its detail and press Relist this item yourself.
  • Listing items one at a time by hand is not counted against this safety valve.

Images

  • The number of photos per upload follows your shop’s setting (the form states your shop’s limit; anything over it is not uploaded and the system says so). Each photo must be under 10 MB, and one upload must total under 40 MB (over that, you are asked to send fewer photos or compress them). jpg / png / webp / gif are supported; iPhone’s HEIC format is not (set the camera to “Most Compatible” before shooting, or convert to jpg first). See the Before you start chapter.

The platform's own limits (to be confirmed)

Mercari may itself cap how many items an account can list per month, or how many can be on sale at once. That is decided by the platform, sits outside this system, and follows the platform’s rules.
